Organic can make a difference

What is organic food?

Most farming relies heavily on artificial chemical fertilisers and pesticides. Around 350 pesticides are permitted, and it's estimated that 4.5billion litres of them are used annually. While there are government rules about accepted levels of pesticide residues in our food, there are concerns about their long-term effect. Agrochemicals and artificial fertilisers can harm the environment too.

5 reasons to eat organic

Extensive research has proven that organic food is better for us and our children, as well as animals, wildlife, and the environment.

1) Nutrition

Soil care and preventive farming methods, like crop rotation, creates fruits and vegetables that contain up to 50% more vitamins and nutrients than intensively farmed foods. Encouraging organic farming methods and gardening practices allow organic soil to rebuild and contribute healthy vitamins and minerals to feed crops, and you.

Let’s all go organic

What is organic farming and food?

Organic farming is a holistic approach to food production. It makes use of crop rotation, environmental management and good animal husbandry to control pests and diseases. Processed organic foods use organically produced ingredients, which must make up at least 95% of the food. A limited number of additives are used in organic food production.

Key aspects are:
• Restricted use of artificial fertilisers or pesticides

• Emphasis on animal welfare and prevention of ill health
